The Call of Jeremia - Jer 1:4-10
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying;
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how
to speak; I am too young.”
to speak; I am too young.”
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I´m too young.
You must go to everyone I send you to and say what-
ever I command you.
8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will
rescue you,” declares the Lord.
9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my
mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your
mouth.
10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdom
to proot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to
build and to plant.”
Each human has a calling from God all back from the
mothers womb (don´t kill the unborn). We have different
callings.
When God calls us, we are going to feel either too young
or too unsufficient. Moses, who led the Jewish people
out of the captivity under Pharaos Egypt, was 80 years
old when he entered the fullness of his call, even he
complained that he could not speak.
But God promises us he will be with us. That means
with his power, strength and abilities. We will see it
when we walk in faith.
The most important seems to be to decide not to be
afraid and to speek HIS words. Not to be perfect.
When God wants to reform something, in our lifes or in
a nation, something often needs to be uprooted first,
before something new can be planted.
A profound prophetic message often contains both up-
rooting and new planting. God cares very deeply, and to
become thruly blessed - there sometimes must be a time
of uprooting first.
