Do you want to want to forgive?

In 1983 when I came to know Jesus as
my Savior, after quite a rough life out
there, I had the very great priviledge to
"walk beside" a real man of God for a
couple of years.

His name was Hans Malmberg. At this
time he was in lead of a Conference
center. I got saved at this center and
they offered me a position in taking
care of the facilities. Hans felt for me
and I actually became his right hand,
and his driver, for a couple of years.

Hans was saved during the time of
WW2, and he became engaged in the
Folke Bernadotte project "The Blue
buses" who helped survivors from
the Nazi death camps. Hans was a
passionate friend of Israel and of the
Jewish people. He knew Derek Prince
and also Harry Greenwood. I actually
met Harry once.

Hans was very much involved in
personal councelling, and he had a
strong prophetic ministry. Can you
imagine an old man in absolute white
hair, with most his strength behind,
singing in the gift of tounges in
Hebrew, while almost dancing, joyful
in the spirit and with a very loving,
caring tone and approach - which
melted hearts? That was the master
sign of Hans Malmberg.

Now to where I wanted to come with
this post; Hans had a lot of experience,
wisdom from many dialogues with
people in need. He knew that a key to
reach deliverance from bondage is
spelled - forgiveness.

When we live in unforgiveness we are
controlled, occupied by many strong
feelings of having been mistreated.

Those feelings tell us we surely cannot
forgive. And, the enemy to mankind he
reinforces that we should not forgive.
He don´t like forgiveness.

Hans had an amazing way around this.
I often heard him say; "Do you want to
want to forgive (skulle du vilja vilja
förlåta) ? To that question many people
then answered that they would want to
want, but they could not forgive.

So, they realized that forgiveness was
a good thing - and indeed a christian
thing. Jesus forgave us all before we
even thought of asking for forgiveness.

During the continous talk people
actually realized that they wanted to for-
give, it was only their feelings which
stood in between and was the
hinderance!

So, the little "trick" by Hans left people
with an understanding that forgiveness
is not about feelings. Forgiveness is
actually a decision.

When we decide to forgive, the feelings
will sooner or later become obedient
servants to our will. A powerful truth.

Many, many people took the first steps
to freedom by this simple revelation.

Feelings should never be what lead us.
God leads us by the voice of his Spirit
in our spirit, in our innermost beeing,
our real self.

When we have got healed from wounds
in our soul, we can come to dominion
over our feelings. They are wonderful
gifts - if they are not in the ruling place
in our lives.

Curiosity:

One time we made a trip from the
Center to a town, Linköping. There was
a special meeting there, which Hans
was to attend, and I served as the
driver.

We had decided to sleep at an uncle
of mine who new about Hans and was
delighted of the possibility to have
him visiting.

While at my uncle´s house in the
evening, he revealed that his neighbor
in the house next to his had got the
doom by doctors; severe cancer.

My uncle asked Hans if he could pray
for the man. So they both went to see
the neighbor at his house and the
neighbor accepted that Hans prayed
for him there and then.

Some time thereafter my uncle Per
came back with the message that
the neighbor had visited the hospital;
and the doctors had said there was
no cancer left in his body.
