The number of earthquakes around the globe have increased dramatically.

Earthquakes per century the last 500 years with 7,0 or more on the Richter scale:

• 15th-century: 2 earthquakes
• 16th-century: 3 earthquakes
• 17th-century: 7 earthquakes
• 18th-century: 13 earthquakes 
• 19th-century: 29 earthquakes    (1 every third year)
• 20th-century: 123 earthquakes  (1-2 /year)
• 21st-century: 144 earthquakes so far in first 15 years.. (10 /year)
• 2016, April 13-15: 7-8 major quakes (>6.0) within 72 hours..
